Boulder Opal Gateway Pendant |
I designed the piece years ago, but I didn't know why. When I finally made it, I thought about the design and what symbols were inherent in it. This piece is a gateway. Its a doorway from one place to another. Sometimes we look at the doorway and we can't imagine how we would ever get to the other side. The passage looks way to narrow, and the future, impossible... (like birth). But things give way (the section on the right swings) and with strength and effort, we find ourselves in a new life. For me, it was a divorce and deciding to put my life into my business... It's been tough, and it's been scary, but it's my path and I will walk it singing. |
Guardian Dragon Face Pendant |
This special fellow is a second generation of one of my favorite necklaces. The one that I wear is a basically flat, as if it were cut from thick sheet metal. I decided that this rendition needed to be more 3D. I call him a guardian because, for whatever reason, he seems to give some people the creeps. He seems to have the presence of a Rotweiller (or Fluffy from Harry Potter). People that understand Rotweillers (or the Cerberus) know that they can be great big teddy bears, or they can be vicious monsters, depending on your intentions and their dispositions. |

The Siren Song Pendant |
Don't think she's a mermaid. She's a siren. What's that? She's considered a monster. She's a twin-tailed mermaid with the most beautiful voice ever heard. Historically, her kind sat on the rocks and sang. Being part bird, her voice was unequalled by any human woman. Across the water, her song would carry for miles. The poor sailors at sea didn't have a chance. They would be drawn to the magical sound but they would be drowned when their ship was smashed on the rocks. I made this piece nearly 15 ago in response to a confrontation about the "superiority of man" and the "helplessness of woman". The siren is one woman that will suck the marrow from your bones and give a hearty belch afterward. |
